Oberon microsystems, Inc., Switzerland, has the copyright to the Oberon/F software and its
accompanying documentation. You may not modify, rent, lease, loan, network, distribute,
translate, decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or create derivative works based
upon the Oberon microsystems software in whole or in part.
The only exceptions to this are described as follows:
Permission is granted to copy and distribute without fee the complete *educational* version
of Oberon/F, including its documentation, provided that the copies are not made for commercial
advantage of any kind. No fees whatsoever (for disks, tapes, postage, link time, etc.) may be
attached to the distribution without the written consent of Oberon microsystems. Copies may
not be distributed as part of a commercial organization's public relations activities.
The copies must be identical to the original from Oberon microsystems, nothing may be modified,
left out, or added. This includes all examples and the documentation as well: it must be copied
verbatim, without repagination or reformatting. It is the responsibility of the distributor to
guarantee that copies are identical to the original.
The second and last exception regarding distribution concerns run-time versions of Oberon/F,
and holds both for the standard as well as for the educational version: Applications based on
any parts of Oberon/F, except for the development subsystem, may be distributed along with
the necessary parts of Oberon/F. No parts of the development subsystem (compiler, linker, etc)
may be redistributed. It doesn't matter whether the application is linked or not.

Disclaimer of Warranty
Oberon/F may not be used for safety-critical projects, i.e. projects where life or health of
people are at stake. The software and its documentation is provided "as is", and without
warranty of any kind. Oberon microsystems and its licensor(s) expressely disclaim all
warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of
merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Oberon microsystems does not
make any representation regarding the correctness or reliability of the software or the
documentation.
***************
Limitation of Liability
Oberon/F was developed using modern software engineering techniques and has been tested
on various hardware and software configurations; but users should be aware that it is
unlikely that all errors could be detected during development and testing.
Under no circumstances shall Oberon microsystems be held liable for any damages that
result from the use or inability to use Oberon/F, even if Oberon microsystems has been
advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event shall Oberon microsystems' total
liability to you for all damages or losses exceed the amount paid for the software.

Installation
Oberon/F for Macintosh requires an 68020 CPU or higher, and an FPU (or a software emulator).
Consult file "Read Me (FPU)" if you don't have an FPU in your Macintosh.
***************
Sources
Sources of OmosiViews, the toolbox interface modules, and of the forms system are included.
They can be used as additional examples.
***************
Documentation
All the printed material is available on-line as well. The documentation is distributed to the
various subsystems' "Docu" folders; documentation not specific to a particular module is
located in folder "Manuals". The documentation can be accessed easily via the "Help" menu
item in the Apple menu. For a particular module, "Documentation" in menu "Info" opens the
corresponding documentation file.
***************
Corrections
Several smaller errors in the SamplesEx9 module, and in several tutorial modules of chapter
"Views" of the reference manual have been corrected, after the printed material was created.
A "Help..." menu item in the Apple menu has been added.
***************
Printing
For printing on a LaserWriter, please use printer driver version 8.x.y. If you must use
a driver with version 7.x.y, switch on greyscale printing, otherwise printing may generate
entirely black pages.
***************
Memory
Make sure that there is some memory remaining after Oberon/F has been launched, besides the
memory taken up by the System and all applications. If there is no unused memory, Apple's
TrueType interpreter may fail to rasterize a font needed by Oberon/F, resulting in an error
during startup of Oberon/F.
***************
Stack Overflow
On some Macintosh configurations, a stack overflow (e.g. endless recursion) cannot be handled correctly. In these cases, five beep sounds are emitted when a stack overflow is detected, instead of opening a normal trap text.
